Nankoweap Adventure
Day 1
Meet in Marble Canyon, AZ and carpool to the trailhead and hike to Saddle Mountain where we will enjoy the glorious Marble Canyon vistas from the cool forests of Boundary Ridge. Dry-camp.
Day 2
We descend the Nankoweap Trail 10.6 miles to Nankoweap Creek in the Nankoweap Delta, where we will camp in this diverse riparian area. The delta supports a common assemblage of lower Sonoran Zone shrubs.
Day 3
We Boulder hop 3.3 miles to Colorado River and camp in the mesquite groves. We will explore Anasazi granaries, perched high above the Colorado River and the Little Nankoweap Canyon.
Day 4
Relocate camp back to Nankoweap Creek. Enjoy a leisurely afternoon exploratory hike in the Nankoweap Basin.
Day 5
Ascend Nankoweap Trail to Marion Point, with a backdrop of interesting hoodoos and dry-camp. There is a seep within 175 yards of the campsite where water drips slowly.
Day 6
Ascend remaining distance to the rim, return to Marble Canyon.
